Candidate Biography

From candidate Website

Pat Kreitlow’s commitment to working families comes from his  parents. His father, an Army veteran, trained troops heading to Iraq before his retirement. Pat’s mother worked multiple jobs to raise her four children and lift them off welfare and food stamps.

Financial aid and hard work helped Pat become his family’s first college graduate. While studying journalism at UW-Eau Claire, he met his wife, Sharry, who is a well- respected physician. They have two daughters and a grandson.

Pat anchored the region’s #1 newscast for many years before continuing his public service in the Wisconsin legislature. As a State Senator, Pat closed the state’s biggest corporate tax loophole so tax dollars could be used for job creation, education and health care. He expanded health care coverage to thousands of Wisconsinites who lost their jobs or whose employers canceled their insurance and he reworked state funding formulas to give more resources to rural schools.

In Congress, Pat will work to create new jobs, help our small businesses and close loopholes that reward corporations for sending jobs overseas. He’ll get tough with China and push Congress to enforce trade laws to protect Wisconsin manufacturers. Pat will be a strong supporter of Social Security and Medicare, opposing efforts to privatize it or turn it into a voucher system. And he’ll eliminate wasteful spending and work to reduce the deficit in a fair and balanced way.
