Joining the Milwaukee Bucks after graduating law school, Dan worked in a variety of capacities, ultimately serving as assistant general manager. During his time with the Bucks, Dan managed the team's salary cap and oversaw the collegiate and international recruitment programs at a time when the NBA was developing an international presence. Dan's time with the Bucks taught him an important business and life lesson of not getting too high with each win, nor too low with each loss, and keeping focused on the end goal.
Seeking to reground American foreign policy in the wake of the Iraq War, Dan joined J Street as vice president of political affairs in 2009, and oversaw the development of the nation's largest pro-Israel political action committee. In this role, he worked closely with federal officials and congressional candidates on Middle East policy. Since 2013, Dan has served on the J Street Board, and in 2017, Dan received the organization’s Tzedek V’Shalom award, honoring his leadership on behalf of Middle East peace.
Dan has also represented the Children’s Hospital Association and Major League Baseball, where he worked extensively on MLB’s Welcome Back Veterans military mental health initiative.
Dan grew up in a family that emphasized being active in the community. His civic involvements have included serving on the boards of Columbia-St. Mary’s Foundation, the COA Youth and Family Center Board, and the Wisconsin Historical Society Foundation.
Dan is a 1987 graduate of Brown University and holds a law degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Master’s in history from UW-Milwaukee. A resident of Mequon, Dan has been married to his wife Stacey for 25 years, and they have three children, Samantha, Ben, and Adam.
