Jonathan Brostoff is proud to announce his candidacy for re-election as Wisconsin’s 19th State Assembly District representative.

Jonathan has served as Wisconsin’s 19th State Assembly District representative since January 2014.

Jonathan has continued to be active in the Democratic Party of Milwaukee County, and will be a delegate to the 2016 National Democratic Convention in Philadelphia in July, 2016. He has continued his 2014 campaign pledge to spread the DemTEAM, which he co-founded with Sen. Chris Larson, across the state.  The DemTeam’s mission is to train progressive, community-minded people interested in running for elective office or helping progressives get elected.  In the past six years, DemTEAM has trained almost 200 people, including current elective officeholders Daniel Reimer, Nikiya Harris, and Mandela Barnes.  Jonathan received a Special Recognition Award for this work from the Democratic Party of Milwaukee County.

Jonathan has continued to serve the Milwaukee community since he took office.  He volunteers weekly at Pathfinders, a youth shelter, and at the Maryland Avenue Montessori school.  In addition, Jonathan maintains close ties with  Dryhootch, a veteran-focused nonprofit, and is an active alumni with Milwaukee’s Public Allies program.

Jonathan graduated from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a degree in political science. While in college, he worked for U.S. Sen. Tom Harkin in Washington D.C., was the chair of the UWM College Democrats, and completed the United Nations Summer Seminar program.

Jonathan is married to Diana Vang-Brostoff whom he met while at UWM. She is a Clinical Social Worker at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center.

Jonathan’s father, Alan, is a retired attorney, mediator and arbitrator.  His mother, Phyllis, is a social worker and co-founder and co-owner of Stowell Associates, which has provided managed home care to elderly persons and disabled adults since 1983.
